R&D
MORE THAN 100 RAW MATERIALS
are managed in our production system
FROM 100 TO 160 DAYS OF TRIALS IN OUR PILOT PLANT EVERY YEAR
We often exceed 50% of our working hours in trials done to develop new products for our customers
OVER 1700 PRODUCTS DONE IN OUR PILOT PLANTS
UP TO 35 PEOPLE INVOLVED IN R&D PROJECTS
The number of colleagues that can be involved with different role in the R&D projects
FROM THE IDEA…TO THE PRODUCT
New product concept
A project for a new product development can rise from a specific requirement of each of our customers or it can be the result of our own market analysis. In any case, any new idea is subjected to a preliminary analysis, since its concrete feasibility must be duly evaluated.
New Product Feasibility
R&D, Marketing and Sales team meet to analyse a new idea. The purpose is to identify the feasibility from the technological point of view, as well as the potential success of the new idea among our customers spread world-wide.
In case of a positive outcome, the pilot development is next step.
Pilot Plant Development
The purpose is to manufacture on the pilot plant a pellet, which has the designed characteristics.
In order to set up a suitable process, quite often new and special raw materials are to be selected and purchased, while new equipments are to be designed by our Engineering Dpt and installed.
Once the pellet suits the expectations both in terms of characteristics and processability, the next step is to set up the industrial process.
Pellet industrialisation
This is the final step of the development. Its purpose is to:
- reproduce on the industrial line pellets with the same characteristics as those produced on the pilot plant;
- find stable processing conditions which allow us to manufacture the same item any time in the future.
The number of tests required to get the goal is not easily predictable. However, we have successfully industrialized our pellets more than 520 times: it is a record in itself, but we are devoted to overtake ourselves!
